Gateway Policy Manager

Compose, validate and manage Web services policies

Define, Compose, Deploy, Lifecycle Policies for SOA, Web APIs and Cloud

The Layer 7 Policy Manager allows non-technical personnel to leverage a palette of more than 100 policy assertions in conjunction with a drag-and-drop editor to compose policies that define connections to shared services, establish trust and identity sources with existing infrastructure, and implement authentication/authorization, message confidentiality, data integrity, SLA conformance, service availability, and so on.

The Policy Manager's IDE-like interface will be immediately familiar to anyone who has ever done any scripting, delivering many of the conveniences of an IDE including versioning and automated validation, as well as support for conditional policy branching. Specialized controls are also provided for SAML, PKI, API Management and UDDI registry/repository support.

Policy Manager - Layer 7 Technologies

Policy Composition – policies can be defined based on any combination of role, operation and content. Individual assertions can be combined sequentially or conditionally branched based on any message content, user-defined context variables or previous policy execution. A built-in validation tool also flags potential policy errors or vulnerabilities and suggests changes during editing.

Policy Lifecycle – policies are automatically saved (for rollback) and replicated across a Layer 7 Gateway cluster, ensuring consistent policy enforcement and providing for real-time change management. Policies can be imported from and published to external policy repositories and registries for runtime SOA governance applications.

Operational Management – event traps and audit trigger points inserted in policy can generate detailed logging which can be viewed in the Policy Manager or forwarded to forwarded to external sinks, network management or SOA management systems for forensic analysis, event correlation or reporting.

The Policy Manager is available as either a standalone executable for Linux and Windows platforms, a browser-based interface for Firefox or Internet Explorer, or through a management API.
