Optimizing Performance Management of SOA

Optimize Web services performance management to ensure SLA commitments are met

Optimize Web services performance management to ensure SLA commitments are met

Performance management of SOA is a complex and many-faceted challenge. To meet SLAs, quick, efficient decisions must be made about how server space and performance cycles are assigned. Commonly, this means making decisions based on identity – for instance, assigning more performance resources to the most valuable users.

One way of handling this is by adding performance management functionality to each individual application. Unfortunately, this approach is not scalable as it is extremely difficult to achieve a management consistency across multiple performance management systems embedded in multiple applications. In this video, Layer 7 CTO Scott Morrison discusses:

  • How performance management for SOA and Web services can be optimized to ensure that SLA commitments are consistently met
  • How Layer 7’s SecureSpan SOA Gateway achieves this by making throttling and distribution decisions independent of the applications themselves
