Performance management of SOA is a complex and many-faceted challenge. To meet SLAs, quick, efficient decisions must be made about how server space and performance cycles are assigned. Commonly, this means making decisions based on identity – for instance, assigning more performance resources to the most valuable users.
One way of handling this is by adding performance management functionality to each individual application. Unfortunately, this approach is not scalable as it is extremely difficult to achieve a management consistency across multiple performance management systems embedded in multiple applications.
