Desktop Support Specialist

Overview:
Layer 7 Technologies is seeking a Desktop Support Specialist to provide technical support for hardware and software issues that arise during normal daily operations. In addition to the desktop support responsibilities, the successful candidate will be involved in the process of delivering Layer 7 products to the company’s customers.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Providing both computer system and smart phone installation and configuration, as well as troubleshooting hardware/software problems. Resolving desktop support requests and inquiries received through a variety of channels (email, phone, ticket system and in person). Implementing and administering corporate desktop standards (e.g. system backup, software licensing, hardware and software standards, security, asset acquisition and disposal, system configuration).
  • Participating in the design and maintenance of IT policies and procedures, especially those for quality and productivity standards that enable the team to meet established client service levels.
  • Recommending procedures for administering the client's desktop.
  • Performing daily backup, to ensure uninterrupted operation of critical systems and prevent data loss.

Responsibilities:

  • Editing, enhancing and maintaining the existing online help systems and user manuals.
  • Researching and planning new user guides and other instructional materials.
  • Interviewing and working with subject matter experts to gather information for documenting new features.
  • Working with the Technical Communications Manager to help develop, document and maintain processes and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshooting complex Web applications, networking issues, Web services interactions and end-user usability limitations in the use of the SecureSpan product suite.
  • Managing a technical support case queue for customer-based issues originating from the various support channels (phone, email and self-service portal).
  • Providing superior client management, including excellent communications, responsive follow-through and advocacy for client issues within internal departments.

Layer 7 Technologies is looking for a knowledgeable and motivated Technical Support Analyst to join our Support organization. The applicant must possess technical expertise (in a variety of different areas), great customer skills and an aptitude for solving both business and technical challenges.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshooting complex Web applications, networking issues, Web services interactions and usability limitations in the SecureSpan product suite.
  • Managing a technical support case queue for customer-based issues originating from various support channels (phone, email and self-service portal).
  • Providing superior client management, including excellent communications, responsive follow-through and advocacy for client issues within internal departments.
  • Prioritizing numerous issues of varying severity and effectively managing the resolution of all issues within accepted service levels.

The Professional Services Engineer is a customer-facing, technical product expert who installs, configures, provides training and supports Layer 7 Technologies' products. Although a technical position, the candidate should be able to demonstrate a history of working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to define requirements, plan projects, and ultimately deliver technical solutions.
